There are a lot of different holidays in summer like Memorial Day, 4th of July and most people spend these days lounging next to the grill for one of  favorite pasttimes...eating yummy food such as hot dogs, chips, burgers, beer and other. The consumption of extra calories causes weight gain. Here are some simple tips which can help you minimize the damage while still enjoying the holidays.

During the summer picnics you may fall into temptation to eat everything in sight but it is necessary not to go overboard. So, this is what you should do:
* Indulging in special treats. Instead of eating chips, crackers or other foods which can be bought all year round, try to consume the foods which you can get only on holidays such as homemade ice cream or apple pie.

* Don't drink too much alcohol. When the weather outside is very hot you need to drink cold beverages. But, if you drink extra amount of alcohol it can add extra pounds to your waist line. Alcohol may also cause dehydration which is very dangerous during the hot season. It is important to moderate your intake by drinking a glass of water between each drink.

* Eat before you go to the party. Most people don't eat anything all day before the party. But if you show up starving, this can lead to overeating.  Instead, eat small and nutritious meals before you go to the party. This will help you mke better choices at the celebrtion and avoid temptation.

* Eat useful foods at first. Before filling up on fattier foods, eat plenty of  fruits, vegetables or other healthy choices. Due to this you will consume less fatty foods but still can enjoy your favorite dishes.

* Stay active. It will be beneficial to plan some party activities during the celeration to get you moving. Games like pick-up football or basketball, a frisbee, volleyball or swimming are great to hve fun while moving around.

* Stay away from the buffet table. Once you fill your plate, sit on the distance from the buffet table.

All people gain weight at times and it is possible to lose these pounds for the short period of time.
